Ore-Ida Totchos

I received this coupon for a free bag of Tater Tots in my Influenster Jingle Vox Box for testing purpose.

Bag

I don’t know much about the brand so I looked up their website. The Kraft website and it has so many recipes that involve tater tots. I just kept it simple and made some homemade nacho sauce. I just search up nacho cheese sauce on Pinterest and picked one that looked good. I baked tater tots according to the package and afterwards sprinkled season salt on top. I arranged the tater tots on a plate and poured some cheese sauce, topped with sour cream and garnished with some chopped green onion and cilantro!

I just got a yearly subscription of Birchbox again so I’m going to start posting reviews on that once my first box arrives.

I’ll be blogging on any other products I receive for testing as well as any other products I’ve purchased that I end up passionate about.

Kiss True Volume Natural Plump Eyelashes & Kiss Strip Lash Adhesive with Aloe
These lashes are great for beginners because the band at the base of the lashes are easy to with and gives of a natural look. The adhesive isn’t anything special but it’s great that it has aloe.$2.98

Bag

Pure Ice Nail Polish

Received the color Silver Star. It goes on very effortless. It is perfect for beginners and people on the go. The formula isn’t too thin where it leaves streaks and you have to apply more than one coat. The first coat goes on opaque.

sunscreen

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
A great light daily moisturizing cream. It doesn’t go on thick or tacky. You can find this at almost any drugstore and I’ve seen it being sold in Walmart and Target.

breathmints

Biscoff Cookies
Sweet. It goes great with a cup of black coffee or any drink that you want an add of sweetness. A bit of the cookie and a sip of your drink and it just melts in your mouth. I think you can buy them at your local grocery store and I’ve seen them at Walmart.

breathmints

NYC City Proof 24HR Waterproof Eyeliner
Received the color Dark Brown. Glides on smoothing without any tugging. Downside. It isn’t waterproof or 24HR. It’s nice to use to line the eyes but other than that it rubs off easily. I can find it at my local Target. $3.99

breathmints

Ore-Ida Tater Tots
A manufactures coupon for a free bag of tater tots excluding 5lb bag. I was able to find at my local grocery store a 2lb bag of tater tots with onions. I saw another tater tot one but that was a 1lb bag. I was looking or the one with the most pounds. I’ve seen them at Targets and Walmart that have frozen food sections.

itty bittys® SPIDER-MAN Stuffed Animal
Absolutely adorable. My dad saw this and said he wanted one for his granddaughter. I went on the the Hallmark website and my dad picked out the Barbie™ Asian itty bittys® Stuffed Animal. I do like that they have different ethnicity represented.

breathmints

This was a great test box. All of the items were new to me except for the Cetaphil product. I really enjoyed the Biscoff cookies, Eyelashe & Adhesive, and the itty bittys stuffed animal. Those I will definitely be repurchase as well as recommend to others if the topic arises.

Disclaimer: All the products mentioned above were sent to me for testing purpose but all opinions are my own.

Fifth Harmony – Boss Music Video and Do Something Campaign

Okay so this post seems random compared to my other posts. I work with adolescents and I came across this girl group who just recently came out with a new song promising ’empowerment’ and has partnered up with Do Something Campaign. If any of you have any young adults in the family or has heard of this girl group, their partnership is giving some the change at meeting them and receiving scholarship fund!

NEW YORK, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — DoSomething.org, the largest not-for-profit organization for young people and social change and pop quintet Fifth Harmony (Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, and Dinah Hansen) announce the launch of the #ImABoss campaign that encourages fans to share with their friends what makes them amazing, unique, or strong. The campaign is in the spirit of Fifth Harmony’s new single “BO$$” from their upcoming debut full-length album which will be released this Fall.

Seven in ten girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members. Owning and sharing personal traits and skills is proven to improve self worth and boost confidence, which is why DoSomething.org and Fifth Harmony are encouraging fans to help their friends find out what they’re the boss of.

The campaign runs from July 9 to September 9 and asks young people to make a sign for their friend that says “I’m the boss of…” and snap a photo of them holding up a sign to share why their friends think they’re unique. The campaign will run throughout their summer tour with Austin Mahone.

“We believe that everyone is the boss of something,” said Ally Brooke. “The #ImABoss campaign is exactly in line with our new single BO$$ because it’s all about owning and sharing what makes you confident and strong.”

“We’re fangirling over working with Fifth Harmony this summer and excited to see Harmonizers across the country take action on an important cause,” said Naomi Hirabayashi, Chief Marketing Officer at DoSomething.org. “As the largest not-for-profit for young people and social change, working with Fifth Harmony is the perfect fit to encourage young people to spread message of self worth and confidence with their friends.”

As a part of the #ImABoss campaign, fans can enter to win prizes including the chance to meet Fifth Harmony and act as their “boss” for the day, a total of $12,500 in scholarship money, and the chance for their picture to be featured on the #ImABoss microsite.

To participate, young people can sign up and share their photos at http://www.dosomething.org/boss or text BOSS to 38383.

About DoSomething.org DoSomething.org makes the world suck less. The largest org for young people and social change, our 2.5 million members tackle campaigns that impact every cause, from poverty to violence to the environment to literally everything else. Any cause, anytime, anywhere. *mic drop*

About Fifth Harmony Fifth Harmony has taken the world by storm since they were brought together by Simon Cowell on the second season of The X Factor in 2012. In 2013, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, and Dinah Hansen released their Billboard Top 10 debut EP Better Together (Epic Records) that reached Top 10 in 41 countries, headlined a sold-out tour, and ruled the airwaves with their smash single “Miss Movin On.” The girls’ have showed no sign of slowing down in 2014; they completed their first ever arena tour opening for Demi Lovato and their own 5th Charm headline tour and will join Austin Mahone on his summer outing starting July 25th In April, they won their first major awards at the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards when the picked up trophies for Breakout Artist of The Year and Best Song To Rock Out To With Your BFF. In addition, they were tapped by Mattel to sing the “Anything Is Possible” brand anthem for Barbie and have an exclusive partnership to release a Fifth Harmony Barbie doll collection throughout the world in the fall. They just released their brand new single “BO$$” from their highly anticipated debut full-length album to be released this fall.

COOLA Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face
Not much of a tint since I am already tan but I really like that it is matte. The texture reminds me of my bare minerals face primer. Too bad my sample practically came empty.

Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set
This was the one I was the most excited for because I was already saving my points for the first palette but now I think I will be saving my points for both of them!

Here is a swatch of the colors and pictures does not do it justice! It’s very nice soft, creamy texture.

All in all it was a good box for me. Disappointed about the Coola product being empty but I did email their customer service and they still have Coola samples in stock and will be sending me another one.

Treastsie Subscription Box Review – May 2014

Treatsie is a curated box of artisan sweets from ever-changing confectioners. They have the regular sweets box for $15 a month + S&H or the chocolate bar box for $39 a month + S&H. When you visit the website it has a pop up to enter your email address and then you receive a code for your first box to be free, tht is what I did. The code is FREEBOX22 and I think it only works on the regular box.

Bag

Above is a picture of what the cover of the box says and one it looks like inside.

S&C

Three flavor of Caramel Popcorn. My dad took the classic, brother took the Rosemary & Cashew, and I took the Pistachio. The classic tastes like any other caramel popcorn. The Rosemary & Cashew Caramel Popcorn tastes like rosemary and there were some cashews stuck to the popcorn. The pistachio you can only taste a hint of it. On their shop you can purchase two size: 2oz = $4.50 and 8oz = $8.

lip

This is like a gelatin jam. The two flavors were Strawberry Rhubarb and Raspberry. First time tasting rhubarb and I can say I’m not a fan but I loved the raspberry one! $3 for 1oz

sunscreen

This was not listed in the card of items and I guess that it was added as an extra for losing my first box. It’s just chewy caramel candy.

breathmints

Serendipity Confections Sea Salt Caramel. I have a weak spot for caramel and sea salt so these two together was heaven. 8 pieces (1oz each) for $12.

Would I do this subscription? Heck no! Personally I don’t think the value is there but if you are into gourmet sweets than this might be for you if you do not care for the price. The itmes were generous though.

Wantable Intimates and Accessories Review – May 2014

Wantable

Wantable is a monthly subscription box. $36 a month from three different subcription boxes. You can choose on or all three: makekup, acessories, and intimates. Full refund if you do not like the box and you can skip months as well as purchase a one time box for $40. The intmates box: 4 to 5 premium essentials, accessories: 3 to 4 boutique accessories, and makeup:4 to 5 full-sized premium makeup products. What to learn more about Wantable? Read my previous post about the subscription here.

Box

Three of my five boxes arrived. The two intimates and an accessories box.

Box

All the boxes look like this when opened. You see your name on the inside flap of the box. The actual box you see a strip of paper with a greeting and on the other side of the strip is a quote. After that there is usually a foam pad for accessories and makeup boxes to keep everything fitted so that the pieces don’t move around in the box.

outfit

This is my mom’s box and it’s the perfect sleepwear/loungewear outfit! The box is worth $36 The St. Eve long sleep shirt according to the paper is $32. It feels over priced for something like this. The low-to-mid $20 seems more reasonable and what I usually see in store, or even maybe $14.99. The shirt feels like a good quality though. The socks are by Cynthia Rowley and it comes with three pairs. I like her line of makeup so it’s fun to see other stuff from her. The socks retail for $18 and it’s a price I see in stores so nothing too extreme. The two pack of soft bras retail for $26, again a reasonable price. The seamless boyshorts undies retail for $8. It’s a bit more than what I usually see for only one pair, I usually see maybe around $5 or $3 if you look hard enough.

intimates

This was my mine and it was another good box. One item is missing and that is because once my mom saw it when I opened it she took it and put it on right away. It is a really cute all over lace camisole. The lace was black and there was a nude underlining so it gave it a more flirty look to the top. My mom ended up giving me her pair of boyshorts for the cami. The lace cami retails for $39.90. I am not sure if I’d ever pay that much for a cami. It is a really good quality and has a molded cup. I can maybe see it in the low-to-mid $30 for the top. The other item is a twisted racerback tank top with the text ‘snooze’ on it. It retails for $24, and it’s a price I see for sleepwear if not a bit cheaper. The gray shorts, is a slim and thin shapwear and that retails for $15. That’s a reasonable price for a shapewear, and possibly on the lower end of the price range. The last item is the red and black strip boyshorts and that is the same as the one my mom had gotten.

Again, the price of all the items are over $36 and it’s stuff that I would buy. All of these intimates are coming just in time now with the hot weather rolling in.

Now onto the itimates!

hair mask

I am dissappointed by the accessories. The scarf is a gorgeous light mint colored infinity style. The other two I am dissapointed in. I had checked sunglasses and silver tone as my dislike, but yet I still got them. I want to chalk it up to it being an end of the month box so they might not have a lot of stuff in stock anymore or because the box was a discount. The necklace is nice enough but I just don’t normally if ever wear silver. I’ll give it a try and maybe I’ll just end up loving it. The summary for the necklace: “The Elsa Necklace is long, silvery strand of chain accented with silver tone baubles. Style Tip: This is perfect way to add serious style to an office outfit.” The necklaces I can work with but the sunglasses I cannot. I wear perscription glasses and I also wear perscription sunglasses so these are useless, plus they are also too small for my head even if I wanted to try out the sunglasses.

Now I am just waiting for my two makeup boxes!

So keep in mind that I had actually bought this when they were having a sale of first boxes for only $1! After this experience I would probably do the intimates subscription and forgo the the accessories box.

What Is Wantable?

Wantable

I don’t use my Facebook much but luckily for me my brother had wanted me to message him something so while I was on and looking at my news feed I saw one of those ‘Suggested Posts’ and I saw a Wantable box post. What caught my eyes was that it was $1 for the first box! When I clicked on the link that says ‘Learn More’ it took me to their website and a message popped up about getting the first box for a dollar. I entered my name and email and from there I was able to choose from three different types of boxes: makeup, intimates, and accessories. I ended up doing one of each box and then making an account for my mom and got her the makeup and intimates box. My mom was on the fence about the accessories box but by the time she decided she wanted one the site had crashed. I’m guessing that a lot of people have seen the post so everyone. When I was able to get onto the site the $1 offer was not available no more.

How Does It Work?

How Does It Work

I will take you through the style quiz for all three boxes. Keep in mind that since I chose like on all the items the next questions goes into detail for that item. Example: You chose ‘love’ or ‘like’ for eyeshadow. The following questions will be about the eyeshadow, style, format and finish. If you chose ‘dislike’ for eyeshadow it won’t ask you any questions about that time. Same goes for everything else.

Gillette Venus snap with Embrace

Box

The razor came in this rectangular box and here is collage of the different sides of the box.

concealer

Curler

concealer

It’s always a good start when I can easily open the package! Perforated back for easy open.

Curler

This is what the front and back of the case looks like. The bottom image is the underside of the case and I love that there are holes at the bottom for the water to leak out after you place the razor back in.

hair mask

The front and back of the razor. I really like the blue moisture guard around the blade. It is activated with water and makes the shaving so smooth! When you touch the moisture guard it is a bit gooey. That moisture guard is pretty thick too so it will last a while. I like the dip in the front and the protruding in the back for a comfortable hold of the handle. The rubber parts creates a good grip to make sure your fingers don’t slip.

screen

The blade has a nice mobility for a smooth shave. The blade is able to glide smoothly as you moved it around your leg. The top image is the blade in its original state and the bottom image I bented the blade backwards.

What are my overall thougths on the product?

Right off the bat? It’s a nice compact item that you can take for a travel. The case is sturdy enought to just toss into the bag without worrying about it opening.

The handle is an easy hold and the rubber grip prevents from any possible slipping of the fingers and that the blade is able to move back. The moisture is really nice. It’s all around the blade compared to some razors were it is only a little strip at the top.

Best? The five blade for an upclose shave!!

I have to say one downside, which isn’t such a big deal. I am currently using the Bic Soleil razor and the one thing that it has over the Venus Snap is the feel of the shave. The Bic I honestly cannot feel the blade shaving the hair and wondered if I had shaved at all when I had first started to use it, whereas I can feel it with the Venus Snap.

IPSY May 2014 Review

BeautybyYOu

IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. $10 a month and you get full size or deluxe-sized products with a customized makeup bag.

Bag

A very gorgeous canvas bag with bright printed leaves.

concealer

I absolutely love this! A little goes a long way and it’s easily blendable. I use it as a concealer on my blemishes, and darkspots and it covers well. You can build it up for a more full coverage. I’ve read some places where they mentioned it’s a bit orange so I did some research and found a good amount of blogs that haven’t had any problem with the color. One mentioned it was a bit dark but when she was done applying the rest of the make up the different wasn’t noticeable anymore. I had no problem because I have a yellow/olive under tone so it went on well. My brother tried it on his face but he has gotten so dark from the sun so the cover up looks pale on his skin. IPSY only sent out the medium shade but the website also has light and dark shade. FULL SIZE IN THE BAG!!
Boo Boo Cover UP: $19.99

Curler

It’s purple!! I was hoping for that color. I have been meaning to buy a new eyelash curler because I think I had left mine at a hotel room. I tried it out and it seems to work well. Need to try it a few more times to see if I need to go out and buy the one that I used to have.
Electroplated Eyelash Curler In Pvc Box From Swissco: $5

hair mask

I can’t wait to try this out. I’m either thinking of doing it soon or wait until I get my hair cut… It has a pleasant scent. FULL SIZE IN THE BAG!!
Therapy Session Hair Mask: $12

screen

This came in at the best possible time!! We have been experiencing 3 digit temperatures this week and my brother just put some of this on before heading to school. I would consider this a good sample size from other sunscreen samples. Orignial is 6oz and this was 1oz
Hang Ten Classic Sports SPF 50: $2 for the sample size

shadow

It’s a pretty neutral color. The brown has a really nice golden shimmer and the lighter one is like a very light brown, but when I swatched it on my hand there is like a holographic pink shimmer (which in person looks more like a very light pink rather than the light brown in the image). Tried looking for the product but I’m guess this eyeshadow duo was specifically for IPSY.

Total Retail Value: $38.99 I didn’t add the shadow so it would probably be a bit more.

The Boo Boo Cover Up and EVA NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask was full size and then the eyelash curler. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about this months bag but I personally love it mainly because everything is so current right now so they did well with the theme and items. It’s just too bad that people prefer more makeup. I like that they do this for the season and I can imagine them doing another skin care heavy bag again in the winter. I’m happy with it as long as it’s once in a while

Everything is for sure being used and currently being used already!

So check out IPSY if you are interested
